There are many ways to travel abroad, and a number of opportunities to attain that travel. One opportunity that should stand out to students is their University's study abroad program. Nearly all Universities have programs that pertain to studying abroad in different countries such as Spain, England, Italy, Ireland, China, Germany, etc. Some also participate in exchange programs or bring in outside study abroad resources for the students.

Studying abroad helps a student's education to grow compared to just staying at home. They live and learn in their host culture and experience unique interactions. It is a great opportunity to see historic monuments and art first hand through classes abroad, experience an academic system through another country, and to discover themselves while immersed in a new world.

Students can also choose to participate in internships while abroad to help build their resume. There are many foreign internship placement companies such as CAPA that will work with the student to find an internship that best suits their interests, major, experience, and career goals. Many companies seek out those individuals with multi-cultural skills and experience.

Being abroad is not only a great education opportunity and resume builder, but it is a great way to meet new friends and make memories. For Universities it is common to go in groups, whether it be 10 or 20. This is a chance to meet new peers and make lifelong connections. These people are the only other people who will relate fully to the experience one day, and who are great to keep in touch with when feeling an urge to reminisce. While abroad many also make friends with people in their host country, through internships, outings, and simply exploring the culture of the cities.

Studying abroad is a great opportunity for an educational experience, to sightsee and explore, to learn about one self, to make lifelong connections, and most importantly to travel. I spent last semester, Fall 2013 in England. While abroad I took 15 credit hours including an internship at a PR Firm. I was there with 22 other people, and it's a part of my life I will never forget. We traveled on many small and large group trips including Paris, Munich, London, Dublin, Edinburgh, Rome, Florence, Venice, Bath, and Stratford-Upon-Avon. I wouldn't trade my study abroad University experience for anything.

If interested in studying abroad and gaining a great opportunity of a lifetime, check with your University today to see what choices they offer for student travel. Also check for scholarships, and RA positions. Usually these programs have those options which can help make the cost a little cheaper. It's your time to study abroad!
