Hi! My name is Mary Kate and I am currently in my junior year of college. I am so excited about the official launch of Ready, Set, Roam and cannot wait to share my travel experiences with y’all! Until college, most of my traveling consisted of family vacations in the United States and a few vacations to tropical places such as the British Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. However, I knew that if I didn’t accomplish anything else in college, I wanted to at least study abroad before I graduated. Summer 2013, I embarked on the journey of a lifetime through the Semester at Sea study abroad program sailing the Mediterranean. During the three-month voyage, we visited England, Morocco, Turkey, Greece, Crete, Malta, Italy, France, Spain and Portugal. People were so excited to hear about my time abroad, but nearly everyone I talked to asked the same question, “Which was your favorite country?” But, because each country was so different and unique, I don’t think I will ever be able to decide. With that in mind, I absolutely loved every minute of the time I spent in Turkey and Italy! This experience was truly eye opening and gave me a new appreciation for different cultures and ways of life. After returning home to the United States, I became extremely passionate about travel and am anxious for my next opportunity to cross the pond! Fingers crossed, the next stop on my journey around the world is Germany!

Hi! My name is Kelsey and I am currently a third year college student. I am super excited about the launch of Ready, Set, Roam and cannot wait to contribute to this awesome website. Growing up, my grandparents had a house in Germany and I have so many childhood memories spending time traveling and exploring Germany and Austria. My parents always believed in traveling as a family and showing us the world outside of my hometown of Charlottesville, Virginia. Now that I am in college it’s definitely harder to not only find the time to travel, but the funds for it. I was recently accepted to study abroad in Urbino, Italy this summer and could not be more excited. This website is going to be a great resource for college students like me to visit, read, and get advice and tips on how to make those travel dreams a reality!

Hi! My name is Summer. I'm a junior from Maryland. I'm majoring in Communication Studies with a concentration in Public Relations. I enjoy hanging out with family and friends, reading, going to the beach, and of course traveling! My traveling experience has included traveling up and down the East Coast and many countries in the Caribbean, such as Puerto Rico, St. Maartens, and the Cayman Islands. Others include Cozumel, Haiti, Jamaica, and many more! This summer I am so excited to study abroad in Urbino, Italy and to explore Europe for the first time! I am so excited to share travel tips and my personal experience with all of you!

My love for traveling started at a very young age, when I would travel from Northern Virginia to Missouri with my grandmother to visit family. Even though I am only 20 years old, I have had the amazing opportunity to travel to some incredible places. Some of them include Australia, New Zealand, the Netherlands, France, and China. There is something about traveling that opens you up to experiences and lessons that you would have never had before. After graduation, I hope to have a job that gives me the opportunity to travel and work all over the world. I can't wait to share my experiences and advice with you as you explore Ready, Set, Roam and begin adventures of you own- whether they are 10 miles away or 10,000.

Hi! My name is Jenn and I am a senior college student from Chester, VA. I am a Communications Major with a concentration in Public Relations and minors in Theatre and British Media and Communications. My love of travel probably has to do with all the places I call my home. I spent 20 years in Chester and my Dad relocated to Roanoke, I go to school in Harrisonburg and my whole family is from Pittsburgh, PA. I love driving all over to visit these places that all hold a special key to my heart. I recently studied abroad in Fall 2013 in London, England. I took 15 credits including an internship and made the Dean's List for my University. While in London I branched out and traveled on breaks to Dublin, Ireland; Edinburgh, Scotland; Bath, England; Stratford-Upon-Avon, England; Paris, France; Munich, Germany; Florence, Italy; Rome, Italy; and Venice, Italy. Travel to me is adventure, and everyone deserves to embark on their own adventure and Ready, Set, Roam.

Hello! My name is Mary and I am a junior in college from Springfield, Virginia. During my sophomore year of high school I got inspired to go abroad because of my cousin’s foreign travel experience. My love of the Spanish language and culture also feeds my travel bug. I love to hang out with my friends, read, and meet new people. In the summer of 2013, I had the opportunity to study abroad in Spain for a month and then backpack to London, Belgium, Amsterdam, and Paris. I have also been to Monaco, Italy, and the Vatican with my family. Through my travel experiences I have learned to see the beauty of each culture, and to look for the little surprises and nuances in my own life.
